Nutcracker Christmas Card

Nutcracker Christmas Card

Hello, Terri here! Today I’m excited to share a Christmas card featuring the Nutcracker Die Set from Concord & 9th.

I began by die-cutting the base of the Nutcracker from 80lb black cardstock. Next, I selected my colour palette and added double-sided adhesive sheets to the back of each piece of cardstock. Once all the elements were cut, assembling the Nutcracker was quick and easy — I simply peeled off the backing and pressed each piece into place. This method is perfect for die cuts that require paper piecing — it saves time, keeps everything neat, and completely avoids the mess of wet glue!

To create the card, I began by stencilling a snow pattern onto an A2 white card base using one of the stencils from the Merry Mix Stencil Pack. I used both teal and purple inks to coordinate with the Nutcracker theme. I used a Nordic-inspired stencil to create some tone-on-tone stencilling on teal cardstock with coordinating ink. Then, I die-cut the centre of the stencilled panel using the largest oval die from the Nutcracker die set.

I die-cut a smaller oval aperture from a darker shade of teal cardstock to layer beneath the stencilled panel Now it was time to start pulling everything together to create the card. I adhered the aperture panels to the card base and placed the nutcracker inside the aperture. I die-cut the foliage to add to the top of the oval, and I created a banner with a sentiment for the bottom. Finally, I added a few snowflake die-cuts and some Stickles glitter glue for a touch of sparkle.
