Fabric that's a sweet as can bee

Fabric that's a sweet as can bee

I'm really enjoying some gentle forays back into sewing at the moment, despite being mildly terrified of sewing machines, so I'm loving stamping and stencilling onto fabrics to make my own unique designs.   The new Sweet Bee Stencil set from Concord and 9th with its big bold floral design had me itching to stencil up a big repeat pattern so I dug out my altenew mixed media inks, my waffle flower shader brushes, a scrap of old cotton (a torn sheet) and got printing!

This really is a very easy stencil set to use - all the layers are numbered and there are handy marks in the corners to help you get perfect alignment.   From then on it's simple a case of blending your inks through the stencil using either brushed or blending tools (brushes are better on fabric, both work on paper and card) and building up the design in your choice of colours.   I wanted to repeat the pattern to fill my fabric (I plan on turning it into a cushion) and whilst there isn't a perfect repeat in the sense that placing the stencils next to each other completes the design, I did find that my rotating it through 180 degrees I could get a repeat that worked well and looked ok on my tripple repeat.

I completed the third repeat on camera so you can watch a short video on how to blend onto cotton on either our Facebook, Instagram or TikTok feeds by clicking the links - all the same so just pick your preferred platform - hope you found it useful.   I'm still a newbie to this vlogging lark but I think our videos are a little less wobbly now we've found a better mount for the camera.

OK - better get back to my Sunday as we have stuff to get done before we start a busy week - we're expecting deliveries from MFT, Altenew, Colorado Craft Company and then we have the major release from Lawn Fawn around 7am on Thursday!

Happy Crafting.

Tara
