For the love of pretty papers....

For the love of pretty papers....

My name is Tara and I'm a paper addict and I have a problem - I can't cut my papers up!   I'm sure this is a club lots of you can join - I buy lots of paper pads but really struggle to use them (particularly if there is only one of each design) cos when you use them they're no longer there to be looked at and stroked lovingly.....   OK, yes I think I need therapy!   So today I forced myself to cut up 4 whole sheets from the gorgeous new Celebrate collaboration paper pad from Altenew with Pink Fresh Studio - thankfully the designs are duplicated but I used FOUR WHOLE SHEETS people - I think I need a lie down...........

I used the smaller of the long hexagon dies from the Hexagon Lable die from Concord and 9th and die cut several from each sheet so I could lay out a nice pattern over a 7 x 5 inch base card.  I placed all the whole ones first and then cut others in half or quarters to fill the spaces around them to give a quilted look to the finished piece.  I was careful to place my "plain" hexagons where I wanted my focal image and my sentiment.

The focal image is one of my all time favourite dies form Concord and 9th - its quite old and may even been discontinued on their site, but we have a few left - Blossom Die - is really delicate and beautiful.  I die cut it twice - once in white and once in soft grey.  I was careful to keep the solid parts in place on the white base to get a layered look.  The sentime comes from Altenew's Fragile Foliage stamp and was stamped in grey to keep the look soft.

There were enough hexagons cut from the sheets to make a second card, so I decided to go for a quilted look with faux stitching as stitching is so on trend at the moment but faking it is quicker ;-)

I just butted the hexagons up to each other on a 6x6 inch base card and then used a grey fine liner to follow the "indents" from the die cut process to make it look like a stitched quilt.  I just added a simple sentiment in tonal grey ink from the new Stitched Sentiments set from Waffle Flower Crafts.

So - go on fellow addicts - join me, be brave and cut a sheet or two!
