Simple Mandala Card

Simple Mandala Card

Hi there, it's Ruby on the blog today.

This week's card is super simple. I started out using Altenew's Rock Garden Artist Markers as my colour palette and then ended up picking up a brown instead of teal by mistake for one of the flowers, so I went with it and coloured the rest of my petals in the same colour. No mistakes, just opportunities, right?!

Here's how the card came together:

  1. Stencil the flowers using Altenew's Build a Garden: Glowing Gardenias. The colours I used were Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake, Lagoon and Emerald.

  2. Using markers that coordinate with the inks, colour in each petal to add depth.

  3. Die-cut the petals, set aside.

  4. Stencil the Intricate Mandala with Altenew's Milk Chocolate Dye Ink.

  5. Mix a bit of water with the Milk Chocolate Dye Ink to add some splatters.

  6. Add some darker splatters using Tim Holtz Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.

  7. Using the Milk Chocolate Artist Marker, colour a strip of card. Add this two-thirds of the way down the card.

  8. Using pop dots, add the flowers to the card base.

  9. Stamp the sentiment, Hello, from Concord & 9th's Swatchbook Stamps.

  10. Add sequins to finish.

And that's it! Super simple. Adding the colour markers is the bit that takes the longest, but it's worth it as it creates great depth. You could just as easily skip that part though if you wanted to.

Have a great week! Ciao for now.

Ruby
