Perfectly Matched Leaves

Perfectly Matched Leaves

One of the things I love most about the colour collection from Concord and 9th is that the card and inks match perfectly so you don't have the issues of trying to find the perfect card shade to match your inking - pick your colours and it all just works.  So today I thought I'd mix and match a couple of cards using the same colours in card and inks.

I have a massive soft spot for tropical leaf prints - half my wardrobe is leaf print so the A Bit of Paradise Turnabout was top of my list of needs this release.  I used Sunflower, Tidepool, Cobblestone and Peacock as my colour combo and printed a full square pattern.  This gave me enough pattern to make 2 cards - whilst you might just imagine turnabouts as backgrounds - chopping them up or die cutting shapes from them can make them the focal elements too.

For the first card I used the coordinating dies to cut 3 rectangle panels - two from the printed pattern and one from cobblestone.  I made my own slimline card from an panel of A4 card and added a strip of sunflower cardstock.  I added my 3 panels on top - taking the inner frame from the patterned pieces and adding one of those into the cobblestone version to tie the design together.  To continue the harmony I die cut leaves and flowers from the same colours of card and popped them behind and on top of the grey panel which I stamped with a sentiment from the same stamp.  This shows how well matched the colours are across the different medium and how easy it is to bring your projects together if you have both on hand.

For the second card I used the remaining panel of pattern to create a background and added different width strips of card in the same colours to add a border on the left.  For the sentiment this time, I opted to add in an additional colour - so many of the shades are designed to work together so you can play all day and never get bored!   I used the matching dies again but went with the circular frame instead.

I might have to see if I can stamp the pattern onto some fabric now so I can add to my leafy wardrobe items!

Happy Crafting!
