Floral Anniversary Wishes

Floral Anniversary Wishes

Morning all!

I'm back today with a more minimalist card project compared to last week.

Well, minimalist in that it features clean and fresh colours.

I don't know where April went to, but May definitely marks the start of my move towards summer shades. And in fact, one colour I'm enjoying at the moment is purple!

A colour I've always shied away from, but it works so beautifully with florals.

So, the perfect reason to use it with the much-loved Takes the Cake family of products from The Greetery.

I started out by stencilling and stamping the flower layers in Takes the Cake stamp and stencil set and cutting them out with the coordinating Floral Details die.

I stamped the banner in Minty Fresh ink from Lawn Fawn (one of my favourite shades for getting a light pastel tone of aqua) and gave the banner a zap with the heat gun before stamping the Happy Anniversary sentiment and cutting it out with the Takes the Cake Banner die.

Then I cut the lilac cake background and glittery frosting with the Takes the Cake dies (which can also be used on their own without the other elements in this product range).

I cut the Cake Stand dies from pearlescent silver cardstock and then assembled all the elements.

I wanted a simple background to show off that cake, so I backed an A2 cardbase with subtle patterned paper and cut the largest Deco Frames die from ivory cardstock.

I still wanted the paper to show through, so I created an aperture in the Deco panel with an oval die - so simple, but it really transforms that panel into a frame.

Once everything was mounted on my card, I added an additional sentiment from the Sign Off Sentiments stamp and die set, with pink pearls and a faceted heart gem providing those all-important finishing touches.

And there we have it, the first card of the summer season made!

Until next time, happy crafting!
