Wild Paradise

Hello & Happy Thursday.

This week I am wishing the tropical temperatures & sunshine to return to the North East of England, I've had enough of this grey cloudy weather. Which in turn inspired me to ink up Concord & 9th Toucan Paradise for a trio of cards.

For my first card I wanted to use the fab focal sentiment contained in the set, Wild About You. I've been practicing with soft ink blending through stencils, so I decided to give it a go with this first card. I used the MFT Punched Pattern stencil because it's a simple design but fun at the same time. I used two shades of Concord & 9th ink, Oceanside and Aqua Sky, starting with Oceanside at the centre and blending out with Aqua Sky.

Once happy with my stencilling I used my stamping tool to stamp the sentiment. I then set to stamping various leaves and flowers from the set and fussy cut them out. Arranging and adhering them to the side of the sentiment.

This lead onto my second card. Again, I used the Wild About You sentiment as a focal point and stamped it in C9 Evergreen ink. I then masked off the top and bottom of my card panel to then stamp the leaves either side of my sentiment.

I started with the lower solid leaves stamped in Clover ink. I then created a mask out of a post-it note to stamp the outer leaves in Evergreen. Lastly I stamped the smaller solid leaf in Parsley ink onto scraps of white card & fussy cut them out.

Once happy I removed the masks and adhered the stamped panel to a Honeysuckle card base.

For my final card today it was only right that I used the toucan from the set. I also wanted to use one of the small striped stamps to create a fun background. For this I used Honeysuckle & Buttercup and I dabbed the stamp edges into both inks to add a lovely mixed effect.

Next I stamped the toucan, using the same direct to stamp ink blending technique for the beak. I added in some Marmalade into the mix too.

Even though the set comes with a branch for the toucan to sit on, I decided to create a perch with a sentiment strip. I stamped & heat embossed the Hello sentiment and adhered it using foam adhesive. I then arranged the toucan, some leaves and a flower in a focal cluster.
