Women's Euro's Final

Women's Euro's Final

I'm not normally a football fan, neither is Rick, so the footy is rarely a feature in our house.  I do like a penalty shoot out but I don't think I've ever watch a whole game from start to finish.  We did catch the second half of England's semi final this week though and it was exciting, especially the backwards kicked goal, so we're going to see if the final lives up that half a match and watch it.   So, in honour of the girls final, I thought I'd dig out my Tiny Sports Friends and have a go at making a football themed card.

I started with the field itself, I took my embossing pen, and just drew some straight lines to be the boundary and line around the goal (my football terminology is severly lacking but you can see what I mean!) and I just embossed those with white powder and heat set.  I used oxides to blend the scenery - mowed lawn for the field and a mixture of tumbled glass and weathered wood for the sky.

Now to populate the scene.  I started wit the stadium seating die from the latest Lawn Fawn release.  Die cut it from grey card and the seats/stands from blue and layered it up. To fill the seating, I used mostly the people from the Tiny Friends stamp set, with the addition of one of the characters (the baseball one) from the sports set.  I stamped the whole stamp on the carrier sheet for speed onto white card and then spent coloured them with pencils whilst watching a film last night.  I find pencils easier for tiny stamps like this - you can get a nice sharp point and then still get fine details like stripes on the shirts.  I would have die cut them, but I couldn't find my die set (I REALLY need to sort my craft space in the office!) so I cut them with scissors instead and arranged them on the seating.  For the two on either end of the back row I added the smaller of the giant foam fingers from the stadium seating set, several characters have arms raised so perfect for adding those little extra details to umph up the sporty vibes.

For the footballers themselves I used two sets of sporty characters - the two that are designed as soccer players, plus the two who are basketball - I just added spikes to their shoes and coloured over the star on their shirts.   Both teams today play in a white kit according to google image searches, so I've roughly used their away kits as my colouring inspiration.   I did have the die for this set safely stored where it should be, so I die cut them and the ball, and placed them on the field.

I was going to add a rowsing sentiment above the seating, but I couldn't decide what I wanted to say, so I decided to go for some Euro flags instead - there is still room to stamp a sentiment when I want to send this card to anyone but for now it works sentiment free.  The pennants I used are also on the stadium seating die.

If you're watching the match today - I hope you enjoy it.  Come on ladies - make it a good game!

NEWS FROM THE STORE

We got our MFT vault release on Friday after the customs clearance issues.  I'll try to finish adding it to store this afternoon.   The card kit is in transit and fingers crossed will be here tomorrow.

There are new releases from Waffle Flower and The Greetery that have yet to be revealed but they are in transit too so hopefully will be here in time for release.

We're also working on putting some more grab bags together to clear out some older stock at a bargain price - so keep an eye out for those coming soon ;-)
