Spring Vibes - Curio Style

Spring Vibes - Curio Style

Morning all!

I've been really procrastinating about getting started on my Easter/Spring cards this year.

Every year, I am brimming with good intentions.

I plan to start my cards sooner, I won't leave them to the last minute like last year, I have Easter and Spring supplies I bought the previous year that still need a good outing...

Every year, it's the same story.

And every year, I realise I should have started making my Easter and Spring cards straight after Christmas...

Perhaps next year I'll finally get it right!

But to get me in the mood this week, I decided to remake one of my favourite Spring cards from last year.

I, of course, reached for the Curio Spring Findings and Curio Summer Findings die sets from The Greetery and selected a bunch of elements to cut from cardstock and colour with Distress Oxides and sponge daubers.

Once assembled, I added coloured pencil details to the greenery, and white and black pen dots to add more detail to the butterfly, feathers, and cherry blossom.

Next, I created the watercolour background using a mix of Saltwater Taffy and Fossilized Amber regular Distress Inks painted onto watercolour cardstock. And of course, there had to be some splatters of these inks and some copper metallic watercolour paint.

Once the panel was dry, I cut it out with the largest Crimped Frame die to add a little texture to the border when mounted on a white card base.

Now comes the fun part - arranging all the elements.

As an alternative to using the Curio Divider Details dies, I also like to arrange the elements on some old mini tags in my stash (adding twine details to complete the look), as well as some of the dies in the Sentiment Suite Basics set (out of stock just now, but you can subscribe to be notified when it's back).

And of course there has to be a little embroidery hoop from the Hoopla Mini die set and coordinating Hoopla Mini Inserts to frame one of the elements - I used some of the blooms from the BotaniCuts Wildflower Mix for the purple florals, and this set is great if you want to add more tiny flower elements to your card projects.

To make my sentiment stand out more, I stamped it on a white sentiment strip cut with the Sentiment Suite Basics set.

After making this card, I definitely feel like I am more in the mood for spring makes, so I had best get my skates on now!

Until next time, happy crafting!
