Feeling Blue

Feeling Blue

I'm having a break from Christmas cards this week as I wanted to play with the new card kit release from MFT and I started with a twist on rainbows - making them all from just shades of blue card.

It was quite a simple card to make, I started with a 6 x 4 base card and splattered it with some metallic blue paint.  Whilst that dried I took the largest die in the Happy Rainbows die set and cut it from 5 different shades of blue card.   To assemble the card I just mixed up all the shades to create several different blue rainbows, starting with the one in the centre going from dark to pale, then swapping the shades around.  I cut off any overhanging bits and used those to fill in the gaps around the edges so no extra cutting required and very little wastage.   The sentiment is typed and printed out but you could spell it out with alpha stamps as an alternative - we have 85 options to choose from in store!

As this is a "cheer you up" card, I didn't stop a blue rainbows - inside I used the same die but this time cut from white and coloured with copics to create a standard rainbow and I paired it with a sentiment from Concord and 9ths Brighter Days stamp.

You could use the same die (or the smaller ones too) with other colours - paint the town red for celebrations - all yellows for sending sunshine - pastel pinks or blues for new births - all greens for an environmentally themed card - rainbows don't always have to be in ROYGBIV coloured!  So I hope I sparked some new ideas.
