A Special Garden

A Special Garden

I'm back to my favourite theme today... plants and gardening, and with Mother's Day just around the corner I took out the Spring Garden die from MFT to make my Mum a card.

My Mum loves her garden and tries to get out into hers as soon as the spring sunshine starts to warm the days. I die cut a few of the pieces from the set and added some shading to lift the flat shapes a little. I used the leaves cut in shades of mauve and lilac to make tulip shaped flowers for one pot and then inked up and layered a couple of the flower shapes to make daffodil type blooms too.

One of the pots is cut on the edge of a piece of blue card to make a shallow planter and I added three green leaves to look like Hyacinth bulbs emerging in it. For the background I used a piece of scrap paper to mask a horizontal line so I could ink through the Altenew Stone Wall stencil and then I added ground beneath it too.

The sentiment is heat embossed in white onto a piece of Kraft card to mimic a wooden sign so I used my scissors to trim the ends with a few splits to give a wood like effect. I used the bullet nib end of my Versamark pen to colour inside the lines of the letters... it just makes them a little darker and helps them to stand out a bit on this kraft card. Do you like the shiny new trowel? I masked the end and used silver pigment ink to give the two coloured effect.

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
