Hoppy Day!

Hoppy Day!

I'm here with a really quick make today using the brand new release from Lawn Fawn.  I have a bit of a thing for frogs - I have a collection of them made from everything from rubber, pottery, glass, plastic, metal and even coal!  So the first of many things from the latest release I wanted to play with was the Stitched Pond Die - so here's what I did with it this morning whilst we waiting for the store issues to be fixed  (yes it really is hot off the press today!)

I simply die cut the pond from very pale blue card and then went to town with distress oxide inks to shade it - and to colour the border green to save cutting a second green pond.   I die cut the bull rushes (or cattails if you're talking American) from green and added the brown bits using woodgrain card for texture.   I added some shading to the green with pencils and did the same to the water lilies, finishing that with a little stickles.  I used that to highlight some shimmer to the pond too.

For the frog himself - I used a base of ink to make him darker but then set about with pencils to add detail, much the same as you would on a stamp - I think all too often we just die cut and think that's it - but you can shade the card the same as stamped image!   So I gave him rosy cheeks and then added some simple dots to give the sort of patterns you see on frogs just using the tip of my pencils in dark green and brown.

The sentiment comes from Don't Worry Be Hoppy which is a super fun stamp set that I'll be playing with properly next!

That's all from me for today - orders to pack and all that!
