Autumn Flower Can

Autumn Flower Can

I've gone a bit Autumnal today, but only in colours.... in fact I've used elements from the Spring Garden die set from MFT to make this seasonal arrangement....

A watering can seems a good vessel to display flowers in, and we've all seen the photos on Pinterest of the sunflower bunches in a watering can. To start with I wanted to add some shading to a flat grey die cut so I cut two and then added Distress Oxide ink using daubers to both pieces. The base die cut is left whole and I added Black Soot to the handle and spout where they join the body of the can. On the second piece I chopped the spout and handle off so I could add Hickory Smoke down both vertical edges and left the middle stripe to give that highlight for a rounded effect. I swiped a spot of black on the very edges and then adhered that piece on top of the base watering can. I find cutting die cuts can help with dimension and for adding extra shading like that.

The flowers and leaves are all cut from white card and I used daubers to blend Distress Oxides to colour them. I added a few smaller flowers along the top edge of the can and then made a start on the card base. I cut two sentiment circles from white textured card to match the front panel and layered them together, to make the aperture I used a cirle die first then adhered the frame over it.....

The front panel is raised slightly with foam pads so the watering can nestles into the frame, once in position I added the taller flowers and leaves so I could tuck them behind. This makes it easier so I could attach them to the card front rather than the other flowers and helped with spacing too.

Any pop of colour on a clean and simple card is pretty but when they are rich shades of autumn then you know it will look good.

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
