Floral Frames

Floral Frames

We've had a couple of new arrivals this month from two different brands that work in a similar way and I really like the concept so had a play with both today.   Both Heartfelt Blossom from Concord and 9th and Big & Bold Peonies Frame from Colorado Craft Company are designed to create a floral frame around the edge of you card and the matching dies cuts the inner fancy edge where the florals create an interesting frame to your sentiment or whatever element you want to pop inside.   I opted for one portrait and one landscape version both with sentiments.

Firstly I wanted to colour the Heartfelt Blossom with my pencils in bold and vibrant hues of reds, yellows and whites with hints of green and a blue border for contrast.   Once coloured and the centre cut out with the die I used foam tape to add dimension to the frame and then actually opted for the sentiment from the Colorado stamp as I wanted a birthday card for my stash rather than the thinking you die cut that comes with the Concord set this time around.

For the second card I opted for a portrait orientation and this time I wanted to emboss it as the Peonies Frame has lots of etched detail to give it a more vintagey look.   I embossed it in white detail powder onto Wheat card from Concord and 9th and used watercolour markers to do some colour washing in just green and purple before cutting with the matching die to get the inner frame.

The sentiments in the center this time came form a couple of different Colorado sets - Anniversary Mini and Happily Ever After as I also needed an anniversary card this week and again I popped the floral frame up on foam for dimension too.

I think both sets are a really excellent way to make a big statement and give an unusal twist to a standard floral card.

NEWS FROM THE STORE

We're working today on adding some Altenew and some reinkers for Versafine clair as well as some new metallic inks.

This week we will also have the latest MFT release full of festive sets.

We're also working on adding a little of the Greetery as an when we can around the other releases but it will take a couple of weeks to get through it all.

We expect to get the latest release from Reverse Confetti later this week.

Next week we will have Mama Elephant on the 15th and Lawn Fawn on the 16th and Concord and 9th around the 15th - 20th depending on how quickly they ship after release as they never ship to retailers before they release themselves.

That's all for this week.
