Olympic Inspiration for Christmas

Olympic Inspiration for Christmas

We've had some great entries to our Olympics themed challenge so far, but some people have questioned what to do if they don't have sports stamps and dies - the challenge is to take anything from the Olympics so it doesn't have to be sport - you can just pick colours from a team kit, Lady GaGa's opening ceremony outfit or, like I did - the branding in the stadiums.   These are not my go-to colours as I rarely use pinks and lilacs but I just liked how they blended together so thought they would translate well onto a card.  The colours have varied from arena to arena - some more blue, some more purple.  This is the official "colour scheme" if you want something to work from.

I opted for the blues into pinks that I've seen around the triathlon and road races around the streets of Paris so here's my inspiration photo.

Using Mermaid Lagoon, Tumbled Glass, Shaded Lilac, Tattered Rose and Kitsch Flamingo I blended a strip of colour and then added fading dots using Chipped Sapphire over the Top to interpret the blend on the banner into my card design.

I used the same colours to colour one of the snowmen from the Waffle Flower Postage Collage Snowman Stencil and trimmed him out to create one stamp (using the postage collage die but you could just do a rectangle if you don't have the die).  I matted him onto some dark navy card to match the chipped sapphire and finished with an appropriate sentiment from MFT's Cool Christmas.

So having no sporty products is no impediment to playing along in our challenge - just find something that sparks your imagination and off you go - its the colours that have spoken to me - I might tackle something using the Australian dive team swimsuits next - the colours and Aboriginal patterns over the top are gorgeous!

So go on - have a go - what are you waiting for?  Post your make wherever you like (on a blog, on  instagram) and then just paste the URL into the linky tool on the challenge blog https://sevenhillscraftschallenge.blogspot.com/2024/07/our-first-challenge-inspired-by-paris.html

You've got until the end of August to join in.

Happy Crafting!
