Spotlight Sentiments

Spotlight Sentiments

I was really happy with this month's vault release from MFT as it brought back some of my favourite sets - some from before we had MFT in store so I'd missed getting them for my personal stash, some I already had like my hightlight for today - spotlight sentiments - I love this stamp set as the 3 little strips make a really BIG statement and I've got 3 ways to use it today to show you what I mean.

First off I did a rainbow thank you - rainbows are still all the rage and this is a fun way to make one. I used my stamping plaform to line it up but if you don't have one, my top tip for lining up straight lines by eye and a block is to use strips of bright masking tape to make it clearly where you need to stamp the next repeat.  (just ignore the smudgy pink bit at the bottom - the stamp slipped off and I didn't want to start again! after it was the last litlle bit)

For my second card I used the birthday stamp as a soft background - stamped repeatedly in tumbled glass oxide and then added some banners and balloons over the top.   I like the MFT Celebratory banner as the swagg is just a stitched line and the banner bits are separate so you can do them all the same or make a rainbow.  It's actually been discontinued by MFT now but we have a few left - and they're on sale to boot!   I just cut them from glitter paper for added sparkle and coloured the balloons tonally with copics.

For the final card, I used the birthday sentiment again, but this time I only wanted one "spotlight" so I started about a third of the way up my card and stamped the whole sentiment strip.  Then for the rest of the rows I masked off the bottom line so the "spotlight" didn't get stamped, just the solid letters.   I repeated that until the whole card was filled in black.  I stamped the spotlight once more on a scrap of card, coloured the background yellow and the sentiment blue and glued it over the spotlight on the background.  I think this is a fun way to make simple cards for guys who don't like fussy images.   A nice bright colour picked up in the mat makes it pop.

I hope that shows you how much fun this set is to stamp with if you missed it first time around or gives you some new ideas if you already have it.

NEWS FROM THE STORE

We got the latest Newton's Nook release on Friday so I'm working on adding it to store and hope to be done by Monday.

Our Altenew delivery (covering the last couple of months worth of releases) is in transit and should be here this week.

Our Lawn Fawn orders are also in transit - so massive restock on the last release plus the mini release from earlier this month.  Should be here midweek fingers crossed.  The June release has been ordered and hopefully will ship ahead of release so we'll have it on release day but I don't have confirmation of a shipment date yet so watch this space for news.

Unfortunately despite placing my order for the Sugar Pea release before release day, as it was a bank holiday weekend, it sold out before my order was pulled so we aren't getting it right now.  I will try to order it again when it's back in stock but sadly the Bob Ross inspired set was limited edition so we missed that one altogether.

We'll be ordering Mama Elephant tomomrrow and that should be here ahead of release as normal.

We are hoping our Hero Arts release will ship soon now the warehouse is open again but are still waiting on confirmation.

Lots of you are asking about Art Impression's latest release - we always struggle to get their stock - I reached out to them a couple of weeks ago and am still waiting to hear back about how to access their new website.

We should be able to get the last couple of releases plus the upcoming June release from Colorado Craft Company too we hope.  Again watch this space.

We're stlll waiting on a shipment date from Ranger but hope to have the new colour plus lots of restocks in June too as well as new stamps and stencils from Tim Holtz.  Some of you have been asking about his new dies, I am afraid as they are made by Sizzix we will not be getting them.  Due to a decision they made which we feel will hurt some of our other brands, and the crafting industry as a whole, we took the decision to no longer support Sizzix last year so other than selling the remaining stock we have of theirs we won't ever be getting anything new from them much as we love Tim's dies.

That's all the news this week.  Enjoy the sun - stay safe!

Tara
