The Coolest Day

The Coolest Day

I'm having fun going through my stamp stash at the moment and finding sets that have had not had much love and trying to mix them up with other products. Todays card is suitable for the youngsters..... that's if it's still cool to say cool!!

I started by stamping the bear onto brown cardstock as I wasn't feeling the Copic colouring vibe at the time, I just used inks and Prismacolour pencils to add some slight shading/colour. I paper pieced his skateboard and shirt and trimmed around him with scissors... I did initially use the cordinating dies but I just didnt like the brown border around the image.

I've used another stencil this week to create a background on the card base, the Colour swatch stencil from Altenew has lots of different size rectangles which can easily be used for creating block patterns. I then added small stars and stripes into the mix.... have a look at all those smaller stamps in the sets you own for making backgrounds.

The sentiment is made using Lawn Fawns Simply Summer Sentiments and MFT's Connected stamps and dies to pick up that orangey-red on the bear. All that was needed was a ramp for our cool dude to skate on... I just free hand cut this with a knife and added shading. I find it hard to stray away from a white card base but it's good to get out of your comfort zone sometimes ;)

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
