Traditional vs Contemporary

Traditional vs Contemporary

Hey there, Terri here! Today I am sharing two Christmas cards. I'm making one in a more traditional theme and the other more contemporary.

My first card has a more traditional feel, I decided to use the Mistletoe Wreath Stamp Set from Altenew. This stamp set has a matching Die and Simple Colouring Stencil. I stamped the wtreath onto smooth white card using a black ink pad. I then used the Stencil to add colour, I decided to go red and green to keep with the traditional theme. I then used the matching die to cut it.

The background was embossed using the Happy Holidays 3D Embossing folder, I then mounted this onto some mat gold cardstock and then onto an A2 cardbase. I then added a sentiment using the Sweet Sentiments Die Set.

Now for the Contemporary card. I started by embossing the backgroud using the Happy Holidays 3D Embossing folder, I then mounted this onto matt silver card and then onto an A2 cardbase. Using the Layered Snowflake 2 Die Set I cut the layers from a mix of icy blue card, glitter card and vellum. I layered them together with a brad.

I cut the letters J and Y using Altenew's Caps Bold Alphabet Dies, I cut from both white and matt silver. I adhered them together with a slight drop shadow. I added the snowflake to my card and then the letters either side with silicone glue to spell out the word Joy. This is where I decided that the letter looked to plain and added a layer of shimmer paint. While the paint was out I couldn't help but add some splatters.

Which do you prefer? I'm more of a contemporary card person but traditional with the Christmas Decorations.
