A Quiet Birthday

A Quiet Birthday

A few of my friends, now they're getting a bit older, don't like to make a huge fuss of their birthdays, so as soon as I saw the new Uptown Librarian from Stamping Bella I knew it would be the perfect way to celebrate their birthdays, quietly.....

I created a torn background shape directly on my base card by ink blending 3 shades of oxides into a shape I made from torn post-it tape.  I stamped the librarian on top so I could work out where to stamp my sentiments, but I also stamped her on thin card to colour with my pencils and then fussy cut.   If you don't want to do that, you could mask her out before doing the background using the new masking fluid from Altenew to save any difficult cutting.

For the sentiment, I used one of my alphabet stamps - in this case Birdie Brown Alphabet and Numbers stamp (yes I have lots, you're never stuck for a sentiment if you have a good selection of different sized alphabet stamps and dies!) to stamp the shhh! close to where she's saying it.   The second part of the sentiment comes from the brand new Raise a Glass sentiment, which can be used for non-booze themed cards too.

I'm not averse to cutting my stamps up to switch my sentiments around, but for this one I just used tape to cover the bits up I didn't want before inking, then remove the tape, ink, tape the other area, ink, remove tape and ink again.   Hope you can see what I mean from the images below - I just use selotape as it's always on my desk for order packing (yes my office desk doubles as my craft desk so I have to be a tidy crafter these days!)

Happy Stamping!

I'll be back on Sunday with a mixed media project if my weekend plans come together...
