A Tale of Two Hearts

A Tale of Two Hearts

Another late post this weekend - as for most of us - life in lockdown is tough and we have a lot to do both in and out of work so the blog is taking a bit of a back stage at the moment.   I did manage to make a couple of quick cards this afternoon though using the new Love Lines Die from MFT Stamps.   It's a fabulous die for clean and simple cards just used as is, but you can do lots of different techniques by adding some paper back in, cutting it from different shapes or weaving as I have done here.

I started with a simple idea to make a rainbow heart so die cut the heart from white card from a panel the same size as my base card and then using the bits that fell out, as well as the lines that remain I created a rainbow by colouring each "line" a different colour of the rainbow.    You coud use this for a number of ocassions but I decided to add a sentiment from Waffle Flower's Rainbows stamp and its the perfect CAS birthday card.

For the second card I cut another die from the same white cardstock but this time I cut some strips of pink shimmer card the same width as the "lines" and did a little paper weaving.  This is an easy and fun technique that looks as though you took a lot longer than it actually takes to make the pattern.  Just start under the first "line" for your first strip and weave under, over, under over etc til you reach the end of the lines.  On the second row you start over the line and go over, under, over, under etc and work your way down.   Glue the start and finish of each row and trim off the excess.   To give it a really tidy finish I cut the die again and used scissors to trim out the lines and around the edge to create a frame.   The sentiment was spelt out using the new little letters alphabet from Concord and 9th.

Hope that gives you some ideas on how to use the die differently for those who have already bought it or inspired a purchase if you only thought it was for valentines!

NEWS FROM THE STORE

It's a really busy time in store as it would be trade show week in the USA were it not for Covid, but brands are still in contact and we're already ordering the "show releases" which will be here in February.

We do have some new arrivals which are yet to be unboxed and checked off and we have more arrivals due this week.   We will get them sorted as soon as we can but your patience is appreicated as we always prioritise order packing over everything else.   So you can expect to see the following "soon" and I can't be more specific than that so would appreicate if you don't email or message us asking when such and such will be available as answering those with "as soon as possible" takes away the time I have to actually do the work of adding them to store!   We announce every new arrival as it's made live to store on our Facebook page.

  • Reverse Confetti's latest release

  • Altenew's latest release

  • The latest release from Waffle Flower Crafts

  • Some new and new-ish products from Art Impressions

  • The lastest release from Concord & 9th

We're ordering the latest releases from Newton's Nook, Sugar Pea Designs, Avery Elle and Hero Arts this week.   No eta on arrival for the first two - the latter two will be released in February.   We expect to be invited to order the February release from Lawn Fawn shortly but have not had the email yet.

Catch you later

Tara
