Birthday Roses

Happy 2021!

I'm here today to add a little bright and creative cheer to your day in these continuing crazy times :)

I recently got the Altenew Wavy Roses in the goody bag I purchased before Christmas, so was egar to ink it up and created this duo.

For both cards this week I found inspiration through one of my favourite card making challenges. Sometimes we all need a little creative mojo kick start and joining in with a challenge is a good way to do this.

CAS Colours & Sketches current colour challenge HERE had the perfect colours and I've used them both. I think colour challenges are good for stepping out of your comfort zone and when using a modern floral design anything goes when it comes to using non-natural colours.

As it is a clean and simple card challenge I made this first card for the challenge.

The Tim Holtz Layering Stencil - Patchwork Hex was another item in my goody bag and I still have a thing for the geometric floral trend! So I used it to create a soft backdrop for my simple floral. I used markers to colour the flower that matched the challenge colours as close as possible.

I adhered the flower using foam adhesive and stamped the sentiment from Concord & 9th Geometrics Stamp. I wanted a bold sentiment that would stand out over the stencilled pattern.

This led to my second card for today. This time I decided to use the same floral stamp and colours to create a patterned background.

As you can see I added in some smaller leaves to fill in the gaps and also a little trio of dots which is from Concord & 9th Rainbow Turnabout.

That's all from me this week, I hope I have added some cheer to your day and inspired you to get creative.
