Books Galore!

Books Galore!

Hi – back to normal routine today. I’ve had this Hero Arts Bookcase Peek a Boo stamp on my wish list for a while and was lucky enough to get it as a gift. Thanks so much Tara. I just had to play with it!!

This card was so much fun to make. I used my stamp positioner to stamp the image onto white card. I removed it from the positioner and used Copic markers to colour the books in rainbow order. I replaced the coloured image in my positioner and stamped the image again in Versafine black ink and heat embossed with clear powder. I cut the panel to 4⅛” x 5⅜”, slightly smaller than an A2 (US size) card. I edged the panel with a black marker and adhered it to the notecard. I stamped a fun greeting from Concord & 9th’s Tiny Tagalongs stamp set in black and I used the coordinating banner stamp in the same set to stamp a soft grey banner over the greeting. I then cut out the greeting leaving a white border. I used dimensional pads to adhere this to the front of the card.

Inside the card, I cut a mat layer of black card. On the white panel I stamped a greeting from Mama Elephant’s Mixed Wishes Greetings stamp set. I like this set – so many useful greetings. I stamped a part of the bookcase image in the corner of the panel and coloured it with Copic marker. I layered the finished panel onto the black mat layer. I am so pleased how this turned out. After crafting and making cards, reading is my favourite hobby!!

While I had the stamp in my stamp positioner I stamped it again. I decided to make some bookmarks. I removed the image and coloured it with Copic markers. This time I coloured each row of books shades of one colour – I used red, orange, yellow, green, and teal. I used the same method as above to stamp and emboss the image and then carefully cut the image into strips. I layered each strip onto black card. I found matching card and ribbon in my stash. I cut two pieces of card in each colour measuring 1½” x 6”. I adhered the coloured panel at the bottom of one strip. Above the image I stamped various words and images from the Bookcase Peek a Boo stamp set.

On the reverse side of the strip with the stamped image I added super tacky adhesive tape up the middle and around the edges. I fold the ribbon in half and adhered it to the centre strip of sticky tape. I added brads to the top of each strip – pushing them through the ribbon and adding adhesive tape to cover the back. I removed the rest of the protective covering from the adhesive, added a thin layer of strong liquid adhesive and adhered the other strip to the back. I made sure to press the edges together very tightly and set the bookmark aside to dry.

That’s all from me today. See you again next week.
