Dad's Beer

Dad's Beer

I'm back today with another card that would be perfect for Father's Day. The new Home Brew die set from Waffleflower has a fun selection of drinking vessels and a couple of bottles to choose from, this is what I've created...

I cut the bottle and glass from white card and then ink blended the colour onto them using Distress Inks, that way I could get a nice gradient in colour. I embossed DAD onto the label, this comes from the Home Brew stamp set which is a perfect accompaniment to the dies. I added bubbles and highlights with a white gel pen but to get the look of glass, I found that adding a subtle brush of white pigment ink along the edge of the die cuts does the job well.

You even get a bottle top in the set for the bottle and a larger one for the Flagon. The badge shape in the set is a very useful die and I used it as an aperture for this card and placed a layered strip behind it, embossed with a sentiment from the stamp set. I die cut some stars in white card for a faux embossed look.... it was just missing something without them.

I thought the MFT Cheers die would fit that space well, so I layered a couple of navy die cuts together and popped it into position, unfortuneately this die is currently out of stock but this set would be an alternative. I'm really pleased how it turned out and by leaving the 'Father's Day' wording off means it can go in my card collection and be used for any occasion.

Thanks for stopping by and catch you next week :)
