Down with the Dolphins

Down with the Dolphins

Today I'm diving down in the ocean to join a couple of inquisitive dolphins and their friends from Mama Elephants Marine Friends stamp set...

I've made a Pop Up Shadow Box card using Jennifer McGuire's tutorial in this video, I think this style suits the underwater theme as the floating images really add the depth.... not so easy to get across with photos though. What does show on the photos, more than in real life, are the acetate arms I've used to float the dolphins in the scene. I stamped and coloured all the images then cut them out using scissors (I don't own the dies for this set but they are available here) ... the sea weed and coral were too fiddly for fine trimming!! The large green kelp type of plant in the background is actually a herb from Waffleflowers Spice Garden set.... I think it works well in an underwater scene.

The back panel of card is actually a pale blue which I blended blue Distress inks onto... darker shades at the bottom moving to lighter and blending out to the cardstock colour at the top for an ombre look. I used a wave stencil to add subtle movement in the blending and of course the classic water spritz for bubbly texture. The sentiment is from Waffleflowers Make A Fish set with a smaller pre-sentiment from Avery Elles Sea-Prise.

This is such a simple style of card that folds easy to mail and you can use any shape aperture as a window into the little world you create........ as the recipient gently pulls the side tabs to open the card up the dolphins move in the scene.

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
