Floral Birthdays

Floral Birthdays

Hello! Deborah here with you today. I've stopped making Christmas cards and switched to birthday cards. Do you ever find that one month in the year has more birthdays than any other? Well, for me, January is that month. There are nine - yes, nine family and friend birthdays in Janaury. So I'm making a start now! Here's the first card:

When I saw Concord & 9th's recent release I knew it was all coming home to me :) :) To make this clean and elegant card I used the In Bloom stamps and dies. I used the In Bloom stamp set for the indivdual flowers and leaves on the front of the card, stamping them in Versamark on to black card and embossing with gold powder. The birthday words are from Concord & 9th's All the Birthdays, once again stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with gold powder. I used the In Bloom dies to cut them out. I used a stitched edge rectangle die to cut out the gold vellum panel.

On the inside, I cut a piece of gold vellum for the mat layer, and on the white panel I stamped a bold birthday greeting using a two-step sentiment from All the Birthdays. I added a tiny gold flower to the top corner of the card.

My next card uses the whole In Bloom collection. I used the large flower and leaf image stamping it onto white card. I used the In Bloom Stencil pack to add colour to the image. The stencil pack contains five masks. There's super video on Concord & 9th showing how to use the stencils. Once I'd added colour to the flowers and leaves, I used the mask to cover them up and added silver splatters over the card. I cut the panel to 4¼" x 4¾" and glued it to the front of an A2 card. I cut two thin strips of silver mirri card and adhered them above and below the stamped panel for a nice clean look. I finished the front by adding the small birthday greeting from All the Birthdays, stamped on white card, heat embossed with silver powder and cut out with the banner die from In Bloom dies. I used dimensional pads to adhere the greeting.

On the inside, I cut a mat layer from some scrap silver patterned paper and on the white panel I stamped another of the birthday greetings from All the Birthdays in green and added a pink flower from In Bloom stamps.

I love the whole In Bloom collection and can see this becoming a firm favourite. Thanks so much for stopping by. See you again next week.

Deborah, x
