Flying By with a Really High Five!
Hello, Tallie here. Today I have a one layer scene card featuring the Lawn Fawn Really High Five stamp set and some Copic colouring! This idea has been in my head since I first saw this set. Sometimes these scenes can seem daunting, so I've broken it down for you into some easy steps.
I started out by roughly arranging my scene so I could get an idea for the spacing. I then stamped it out, using a Post-It Note to mask off one of the smaller balloons so I could stamp another balloon. I didn't stamp the strings yet - I added those with a pen later.
I used a template to lightly trace some cloud shapes onto the background behind the flying characters. Any of the cloud templates will work (or you can die cut one to use or even freehand it!) though I used the MFT Cloud Stencil. I erased most of the lines before colouring so the graphite line wouldn't get trapped beneath the marker ink.
I then used some of my lighter markers (in purples, blue-violets, red-violets and reds) to colour in the clouds. Starting with the darker colour immediately behind the pencil lines and blending up the cloud to get a smooth transition. A colourless blender can help smooth the ends. Be sure to keep most of the cloud white to get that fluffy look! Here's an extra tip: if your blending isn't as smooth, add some dots in the lighter colours to give extra texture to the shadows and divert the eye away from the less-than-perfect areas.
Next, I coloured in the characters and balloons. I used some purples and red-violets - just be careful of the reddier colours as I had some bleed out trying to get a smooth blend. If you find yourself in the same situation, just heat up the area to stop the bleeding in its tracks. I die cut the panel with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle and stamped the sentiment from the set in the bottom right corner.
A few clear sequins scattered around the sky finishes off the card.
I hope you'll give this type of card a try. Thanks for reading and happy crafting!
