Gnomes in the sunflower patch

Gnomes in the sunflower patch

I was in the mood for some detailed colouring this week so I grabbed one of the new Jenoblade stamps from MFT and made myself a little scene to colour with pencils.  I went with Sunflower Gnomes and started by masking off the little female gnome - I wanted to have her swinging from the big mushroom in the top corner, so I stamped her first so I could stamp the rest over her.   I drew some lines to create a swing so seat her on and pencilled in the ropes to hang it from to ink over once I'd finished colouring.

I used pencils to colour - mostly Altenew's Woodless Pencils which are now back in stock and some other pastel shades and then did a very soft background using watercolour crayons fading it out to white in the middle.   I used the fine liner pen I drew the swing with to add some seeds to the sunflowers.

Whilst I don't have much artistic skills when it comes to drawing (I'm never going to manage a Sandy Alnock style backgound) you can sometimes make a few simple tweaks to get more from your stamps so  hopefully this example makes you look at your sets with fresh eyes.
