Handmade Holidays Christmas Card

Handmade Holidays Christmas Card

Hey there, Terri here! Today I am sharing a scrap busting project! If you're anything like me, then you must have a pile or box of scrap patterned paper that you just cant let go of, you know....just in case. Well todays project is perfect for using up even the smallest pieces.

I decide that the Handmade holiday Die would be the perfect way to bust through some of those pretty little paper scrap, the die set has several dies that look adorable cut form patterned papers. Infact, I was so excited by this that I brought myself a new storage box with several compartments and spent an afternoon cutting all of the different pieces. I love how you can cut the arms, sleeve and cuffs from numerous different papers and really customise the look. I wanted to have several differnt skin tones so ink blended lots of pieces of card in shades or beige, brown and black and then die cut from them.

I spent a little time putting together the arms which hold the items, it reminded me of those paper dolls that you could change the clothing for. I die cut the the gifts, bells, ornaments etc and added them to my storage box, I have lots now and can sit and create all my christmas cards later in the month.

I decided to use a blue paper, with gold speckles for my background panel. I added it to an A2 card base and then stamped a sentiment from the Handmade Holidays Sentiment Stamp set in a teal ink, directly in the centre of the panel.

I decided that 5 arms would be the magic number, not too many but just enough. I played with the layout until the arms looked right and then chose which items they would hold. I like how each hand position can hold something different. I like how the hand grabs the gingerbread man and another delicately dangles the Mistletoe.

The cup is one of my favourite items, it has two layers and then you can add the snowflake and a candycane. Once I was happy with how they looked I started to stick them down. I then cut a few of the stars from silver mirror card and added them around the arms.

I am really excited to see what else I can create with this set, I think the options are endless.
