Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone - here's hoping it's a better one for all of us!   We're slowly getting back into the swing of work today so we're ready to go in the morning so there will be some new stock from Altenew in store this evening.   In the meantime I wanted to share some cards I made "twixtmas" with new Anita Jeram designs from Colorado Craft Company that arrived just before Christmas.

All of the cards were made with the images stamped onto watercolour paper and then coloured with watercolour pencils and a waterbrush (easy colouring method whilst watching Christmas TV!)

The first card was a friends birthday on New Year's Day so I used the Party Time stamp which comes with New Year sentiments but can be used all year around (espeically if like me, you mask out the holly and the cracker - I just stamped the whole image then used a wet cue tip to wipe the ink off the elements I didn't want to stamp)

Next I wanted to play with snowmen - again - they don't have to just be for Christmas.  They can be used for winter birthdays and general winter notes too.  Best Sledding is the perfect example - this could easily have a "have fun on your birthday" sentiment inside to pair with the "weeeee" on the front.

The snowmen and bunnies stamp comes with a lovely general winter sentiment so here I made a super CAS card with it.

but the images are just so lovely they can be used for many reasons - here's a Christmas card for 2021 ready to go!  Same sized image as my first card but a bit of paper behind and its big enough to fill the card.

I also couldn't resist colouring up the puppy snoozing on his quilt - this would be great for dog lovers, as a get well card or a general note card too.

NEWS FROM THE STORE

We're adding new and restocked items from Altenew today.

We have been ordering stock whilst we were "closed" so do have orders pending which should ship this week including Lawn Fawn restocks, new Reverse Confetti, new Mama Elephant (not released until 15th) and new Art Impressions.   We don't have eta's for any of it yet - the increased paperwork for post-brexit trade will likely slow down all our imports at least for a while as many more parcels now require paperwork and there aren't enough border staff to deal with it.  We'll update Facebook as always with every new arrival as soon as we have it loaded to store and will update here when we have anything concrete.   There will be emails inviting us to order MFT, C9, CCC,Hero Arts, Altenew and many more new releases this week too so it will be busy on the new stock front this month.

BREXIT

As you may well have seen, there was a last minute trade deal agreed between the UK government and the EU and the "transition period" officially finished at 11pm on the 31st December.    The details of the deal are still pretty sketchy - the document we can read is 1200 pages of legalise with no concrete details on the rules.   However, from what we can understand, we are now required to include customs paperwork on EVERY PACKAGE we send outside of the UK which does include tarrif codes and order values, BUT there should be NO CHARGES on your end if you are in the EU.   This will however slow down packing as the paperwork is more involved that the old version, and we have already been warned that customs will be checking everything closely and returning items that do not have the correct paperwork.   This will also slow down parcels crossing the border until customs themselves are up to speed with the new processes.   As always, we'll do our best to work it out but please bear with us whilst we get our heads around the new processes.   All the parcels which were held up when France closed the borders before Christmas will ship tomorrow with the new paperwork.

Finally, if like me you were making Christmas cards right up to Christmas Eve and want to be more organised this year, we're running a Christmas Card Making Club over in our VIPs Group on Facebook - every month on the 1st, I'll post a prompt to remind you to make some and you can share your makes in the post to encourage others to do the same!   Just search Christmas Card Club in the topics to find each months prompt.   Please remember the rules though - only cards made using SHC products can be shared in the VIPs Group.    We started on Friday with our first prompt so here's my first Christmas Card for 2021 using Reverse Confetti's Ornament Star Stamp and Die - the die is so large it makes the perfect shaped card and all the little patterned pieces on the stamp mean you can create a whole host of variations on the same card!

Catch you next week.

Tara
