Home Grown Notecard

Home Grown Notecard

Thanks to this years rather 'un-summery' summer we have a bountiful supply of veg on our allotment which, I suppose, is the silver lining to that rather rainy cloud so I felt inspired to use these Concord & 9th Home Grown dies to make a colourful notecard.....

Instead of using coloured card or ink blending I used watercolour card with the dies and then got my palette out for a bit of relaxing painting. I love that 'loose' style of watercoluring with lots of shades and colours to make up the finished colour so I tried that with these fruit and veggies. I started by dampening the shapes first and then dropped in colour using my brush, trying not to mix the colours too much.

For the smaller pieces like the tops of the chilli's and cherry tomatoes I watercolourd a small area of card then cut the pieces from that when dry. I added some splats of colour to the fruit and veggies when they were partially dry and then assembled the relevant leaves and stalks to their partners.

I played around and worked out an arrangement on a piece of cream card before cutting it down to size and flicking dark brown paint across it. I glued the shapes down and then attached the panel to a card base..... I didn't feel like adding a sentiment, sometimes you just don't need one and then you can use the card for any occasion and then it could become a piece of art for display afterwards too :)

Thanks for stopping by, catch you again soon :)
