Leafy Borders
I dug out an older die for my project this week - the Leafy Border Die from Altenew - I had the idea for one of the projects when the die was first released but we could never keep it in stock back then so I thought with it being "big jubilee street party" day it would be a good time to finally make my idea for a table light with it.
I ran the die twice in a continuous line up a sheet of A4 length pearlescenct card cut to 6 inch tall (so it fits in my die cut machine) leaving a 5mm border at the top and bottom so it doesn't fall into two halves and also gives space to seal the sheet into a cylinder. (In hindsight I think I would leave a 5mm gap between the die cuts too to give some strength to the front). I used my craft knife to cut the edges that don't cut on the die so I could remove all the "waste" and just be left with a central border of leaves. The idea being that once it goes dark, you pop a battery tea light or lead fariy light cluster (no naked flames in cardboard please!) and then the light makes a really pretty pattern as it comes out.
I added 4 strips of blue pearl card on top to make it more interesting in the daylight but you could go to town with die cut borders or patterned paper, whatever matches your table theme - or even decorate with clusters of flowers - or even stamp the cylinder before sealing the edges together.
Whilst I had the die out I thought I'd make a quick card with it too as I had a scrap of card left. I left a narrow border around it and added some purple card behind to make it pop. I stamped a sentiment using MFT's Stylish Sentiments as I thought the curly font matched the curly leaves. I popped that up on foam to distinguish it from the border and card done. They'd make really easy card sets to give as gifts with different colours and sentiments - especially if you popped them in a gift card box like the lovely Stationary Box Die set from the Greetery.
NEWS FROM THE STORE
We have a couple of deliveries in transit at the moment and due this week:
Restocks on all the sold out products from the last Lawn Fawn release should be here by Wednesday.
The upcoming release from MFT plus restocks on the card kit items should be here again by Wednesday.
Today's release from Waffle Flower Crafts is on order but we have not as yet had a shipment date - hopefully it will be early this week so there is a chance it will be here by the end of the week. Please note, the card kit was not as yet offered to retailers (first I knew when I saw it today!) so I will enquire as to whether or not we can get it in the future.
As always happens in the first week of a month, other brands will start to send us releases to order so we'll get on it as soon as they do.
Hope you're street parties, if you had them, were not washed out in the poor June weather today.
Happy Crafting
Tara
