Poppin' Popcorn

Poppin' Popcorn

I have a fun and colourful birthday card for you today that I've made for an upcoming birthday. It uses older products, in fact the popcorn box is a die from Sugar Pea Designs that makes a 3D box but, as you can see, it makes a good sized element to put on cards too if you trim it down....

I liked the idea of the box being off the bottom of the card so I could fit an explosion of popcorn above it which is made using embossing paste through Newtons Nook popcorn stencil. I used two layers of paste, letting it dry in between, and tried heating the last with a heat gun which makes it bubble nicely but unfortunately it doesnt stay that way. I added colour by lightly applying Scattered Straw distress ink through the stencil when the paste was dry.

To match the style of the card I used Mama Elephants Kissie Alphabet embossed in white on black for a bold sentiment.... the letters work well stamped in a jaunty way. Inside the card I have used the same alphabet to stamp Happy Birthday but it could be for other occasions too.

Well that's a bright colourful start for your week, thanks for stopping by :)
