Salvaged Sentiments

Salvaged Sentiments

I couldn't wait to get my mits on the new oxide colour - I do love my teal and Salvaged Patina is the perfect in-fill shade between others that already exist in the range.  For my first card I wanted to play with the new colour and see how it sat with my other favourites - Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio.  I used the new Thought Bubble stencil from Lawn Fawn to create a fun background using the 3 shades.

Next came the main sentiment - one of the fab new dies from Reverse Confetti, the Celebrate Tag Die.  This is a two part sentiment die with a tag to boot.   You get a solid once piece die that cuts a perfect shadow to fit the sentiment letters onto.   I die cut that from a dark teal and then cut the letters from a light aqua and set about doing one of my faviourite techniques for die cuts - dipped embossing.   I pressed the bottom of each letter front onto my versamark ink pad then dipped each into the Salvaged Patina Embossing Glaze to give a two-tone effect to the letters.   It's then a simple assembly job, followed by a stamped sentiment underneath from MFT's All The Cupcakes Stamp.

For the second card I simply masked off the center of the card and blended Salvaged Patina to give a background to ground my sentiment.  I wanted to decorate the letters from the main Happy sentiment in a different way so used the small flower sentiment from the new Reverse Confetti Beautiful Balloons stamp.  I stamped in salvaged patina onto each letter after they were die cut so I could leave some areas plain, sort of tatoo style.   The co-ordinating sentiment stamp has a whole heap of sentiments that follow "happy" but I wanted to stick with birthdays so stamped onto the same card and cut a matching matt to the outline on the happy die.   I decided to continue the decoration with the flower stamp and die cut it from green (close in colour to cracked pistachio) and embossed in copper my favorite to pair with teal and green and then some simple shading on the flowers with teal copics and a teal gem to finish.

Hope that's inspired you with some different ways to use your sentiment dies.
