Veggie Time

Veggie Time

Happy Halloween... sorry no themed card today though although there is a tenuous link as its vegtable based and pumpkins seem to be everywhere at the moment of course!! I have used the Concord & 9th Garden Grown stencil set to make a colourful background for a punny birthday card...

The layering stencils are such a great concept and easy to use too, I used sponge daubers to apply my favourite Distress Oxide inks through the stencils although I think a smaller stencil brush may get into the narrow areas better. I have made an interactive card using Jennifer Macguires video tutorial here. The simple pull tab mechanism allows the front panel to flip up and reveal the sub sentiment below....

The colourful vegtable background is slightly smaller than an A6 size card and I used a die to cut a narrow slit in the centre, but you could easily cut this by hand with a knife and ruler. I decided on my own sized sentiment panels based on the wording and alphabet I used. The larger font is an old one from my stash but this set is a similar style. The smaller alpha is Lawn Fawn's Jessies ABC's. Here are the various parts altogether before assembling the card....

This style of card works well for a busy background, allowing the sentiment to stand out and you know how much I love a play on words too :)

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
