Floral Sympathy

Floral Sympathy

It's probably the one type of card we all wish we didn't have to make, but every now and then we all need a sympathy card and this week I needed one for a close friend.  I think it's hard to be inspired by such sad ocassions so I tend to stick to something floral in monochrome colours.

For this one, I've used the new Picked Posie Die from Concord and 9th - I started by die cutting it entirely from white, but the layers were a little lost so I blended just the blooms with a very pale blue from Altenew's Frozen Delight collection - 6 beautiful pale pastels perfect for when you want just a hint of colour.   I used pinflair gel to build up some dimensions in the layers as this allows for shaping better than foam pads.

I created a navy background from card and drew a white border and then assembled the bloom.  I took the triple bud element and snipped it apart to create a bigger single stemmed cluster.  I wanted to keep it non-fussy but just felt it needed a little something extra and the buds filled in the gaps.

The sentiment is currently sold out - sorry -  as a DT we do try to avoid using out of stock product when blogging for you, but sometimes needs must and I needed to get this in the post.  I used Thinking of You from Concord and 9th and I'll try and reorder it this month as its a very useful set to have in your stash.  I die cut it from textured blue card to keep it all in the one blue colour family.  You could use this MFT Thinking of You Die instead if you need an alternative.

Hope that's given you an idea for what can often be a tricky card to make and I hope you don't have to make too many of them!
