Rainbow Beauty

Rainbow Beauty

I don't know about you but I'm finding the return of the cold weather rather depressing.  So in order to remind myself that the weather can be nice, I've made a inspirational mini poster for the office wall.

I wrote a little crostick poem using RAINBOW as my theme and made an A5 background for it using the two new stencils from Lawn Fawn.  I started with the rainbow corners and did them in rainbow shades using oxides.   Then I used the cloud stencil using pale grey and blue oxides in the area where there was no rainbows.

I die cut the letters from white card using Henry's ABCs Dies from Lawn Fawn and used the direct to paper technique to colour them with rainbow inks (Concord and 9th for r-n and Versafine Clair for b-w)   The rest of the words were stamped in the same ink colours using the new Alphabet stamp that Lawn Fawn have just released to match the die cut.  I love the look of the two together - will be great for main and sub-sentiments too!

I decided to make life harder for myself by centering the poem - took my back to my early typing exams on a manual typewriter (yep I'm THAT old!) working out the measurements to get everything centered!   I put the letters on my block, put the die cut on top and measured it.   Then I halved the measurement and measured that from the END of the word so I could work out where to stamp the letters against a very pale centre line I drew in pencil.   Once the word was stamped I glued on the die cut before repeating the process down the poem.   Hope that makes sense, it will once you start if you give something similar a go.

It's certainly going to brighten up a cold grey day here in Sheffield so I hope it raised a smile for you too.   Feel free to copy the poem too if you want.

Happy Crafting
