Hedge Hugs

Hedge Hugs

Hi, it's Ruby. I'm hoping as you read this that we haven't woken up to loads of chaos, as we've been on a tornado alert up here in Scotland. Fingers crossed, the day can be about lovely things such as hedgehogs and cuteness!

Today's card is a cute little card using stamps from Sugar Pea Design. The set is called Hedge Hugs. I knew immediately that I wanted to pair it up with Lawn Fawn's xxx to create a baby card. We had a little baby boy arrive in our village just last week, so it's perfect timing.

Onto the card. It's really simple:

  1. Stamp and colour all hedgehogs from the Hedge Hugs stamp set. Die cut if you have the dies. I don't have them, so I fussy cut the images carefully with small scissors.

  2. Die cut the scalloped background in some patterned paper to create a panel for the hearts to sit on. I used a pad of patterned paper I've had forever. You could also use a plain cardstock. The die I used is Lawn Fawn's Scalloped Slimline Hearts: Portrait Die, but this set is a great substitute. NB. You can even make it by hand, but if you do that, you'll probably end up emailing Tara and Rick asking them to back-order the Lawn Fawn one. It is SUCH a faff getting the hearts lined up!

  3. Next, cut the heart-shaped panel using the triple heart die in the set. I used Concord & 9th's Blueberry cardstock. It's a gorgeous blue, unlike any other brands I've used.

  4. Adhere the scalloped background to the base of a slimline card.

  5. Then, add the heart-shaped panel on top.

  6. Attach the hedgehogs over the heart shapes, using pop dots for dimension.

  7. Stamp a sentiment using Altenew's Sentiment Strips 2 stamp set in black ink on white cardstock. This set is out of stock but any baby stamp set would be great for this. I've got the Baby Face Sentiments set from The Greetery on my wish list.

  8. Add some gems to finish.

I think if I was doing this card again, I'd probably add another little thing for the bottom hedgehog, but I wanted to get my card posted. Something to consider, though, maybe if you do decide to create something similar.

These little hedgehogs are perfect for babies and kids alike. I can imagine them working really well with some of the Lawn Fawn interactive dies too - like this diorama set.

That's it from me this week, see you next time!
