Apple for Halloween

Apple for Halloween

I've been having fun today pairing an old Greetery set with a new one and giving them both a Halloween twist!   The new BotaniCut Apple die from the Greetery is fantastic and really realistic, so I thought it would be fun to make the perfect blood red apple from Snow White and use the Holding Hands die to be the Witch's hand offering it out of her creepy door.

I started with the apple - die cut the largest from white card and used Marmelade, Poppy and Cranberry inks from Concord and 9th with the Waffle Flower shader brushes to give it some shape.  To add to the realism, I used inktense pencils to add some "dots" in brown and yellow over the top and finished with the stalk.

I used the same colouring technique on the hand using sprout and parsley and then hand cut some pointy nails and covered them in liquid pearls in raspberry before popping the hand in a black sleeve.

I made the door by just cutting strips of brown woodgrain card and rubbing distress crayons over for added grunge and gluing onto black card.

The sentiment was stamped using Perferctly Penned Stamp from Concord and 9th and cut using a speech bubble die.

To create the background I splatter black paint onto grey card and then because I wanted to make it a nice framed piece of Halloween and I like anything that's black and glittery, and because I've been looking for a reason to open a set all week, I reached for the brand New Distress Sparkle set from Tim Holtz which is a limited edition set and its yummy!   Super sparkly black glitter and then lovely big flakes of grey-black shimmery mica.   What's not to love.

I popped it in a frame and will put it next to the fruit bowl for Halloween giggles.  I bet no-one eats the red apples that week!
