Witchy Marks

Witchy Marks

I do love reading and host a monthly book group at my house so I often make book marks for the book group members.   I've done Christmas and Easter themed ones before so thought I'd have a go at Halloween ones for a change and give them a punny bookish twist.

I used MFT's Everything But the Broom Die to create my Halloween elements for tops of my bookmarks for which I just cut strips of purple card (2 4cm one 6cm for my wider pun) cutting all the main elements twice so the could go behind the book mark too to make them secure toppers.   I used black card and a little green and purple glitter card for highlights.   For the cauldron, I sandwiched a piece of acetate between my two black cauldrons and stuck the green bubbles onto that so they appear to float.  I trimmed around them after to ensure there were no sharp edges.

To create my bookish puns I spelt them out using Concord and 9th's Little Letters Stamp.   If you don't have the exact sentiment you want, then having a few different alphabet stamps (and or dies) in your stash means you're never stuck and can create your own anytime you need to.   I stamped them in delicata black shimmer which has a fun effect with a shimmery edge and the letters look a little like old rub on transfers.

To add a little interest to the bottoms which were more plain I went for a simple striped pattern using Woven Stipes by Altenew.

NEWS FROM THE STORE

  • Concord and 9ths September release finally shipped on Thursday so fingers crossed will be here Monday/Tuesday this week.

  • Sugar Pea Designs' latest release is shipping this week.

  • Altenew's latest(ish) releases are shipping this week too.

It will be towards the end of the week when the latter arrive so they won't be in store probably until next weekend at the earliest.

We're still trying to add the Greetery back catalogue but with other releases and orders to be placed and order packing, we're behind.  Doing our best.  Keep an eye out here for updates as we go along the rest of September.
