Cozy Anniversary

Cozy Anniversary

Whilst there is somewhat of a heatwave going on over most of Europe this summer, here in the UK, it's been a pretty cold and wet July so today I reached for the granny square stamp and die set from Altenew to make an unseasonal anniversary card.

Sometimes it can be tricky to line up layering stamps if you're not using a stamping tool of some kind - I have a couple but as there is no space for them to live near my desk, I usually just grap one of my blocks from my on hand drawer.  However the thickness of a block can cause distaution and make it hard to line up properly.  When I find this issue, then I just use the carrier sheet from behind the stamp (the one without printing on) and use that instead - no distaution but it can be a little more fiddly to pick up and down without smudging.   This is the method I used on this card though - I found the middle and stamped the outer layer of the granny square first in Peacock Ink.  I repeated this layer 6 times across my card, then switched to Oceanside, then Tidepool, then Seagreen for the inner area (all Concord and 9th cubes)   I added an extra line of faux stitching inbetween using a coloured pencil as that's how the squares would normally be joined together (not that I can crochet - no matter how hard I try!)

I thought it would be fun to turn the background into a cute anniversary card so used Altenew's Brush Stroke Alpha to die cut some letters from Peacock card.  The rest of the sentiment is taken from All Kinds of Happy from The Greetery.   I think it works perfectly for a winter anniversary - we love nothing more than a snuggle day on the sofa under blankets in the winter.

Happy Crafting!
