As it's International Women's Day today I thought it would be a great day to share a post to remind you that another important female focussed day is coming up -  Mother's Day in the UK is on the 19th March this year.   If you're looking to add Mother's Day specific stamps and dies to your stash then use our "theme" feature on the website as we have a Mother's Day Theme so one click will find you all the right products  https://sevenhillscrafts.co.uk/categories/mother-s-days.html

You'll find a Theme drop down menu on the homepage of the store and you can select from tonnes of different themes - birthdays, flowers, people, pets - we categorise all our products as we add them to make it easier for you to find specific items.

For my card today I decided to use a technique I love but haven't done in a while as I set myself a challenge this year of using my old patterned paper pads (the time for stroking and saving is over!)   So I've inked up Curvy Girl Holding Hands by Stamping Bella and used the paper to paper-piece the mother and daughter into cute matching outfits.   The Stamping Bella images are the prefect size and style for paper-piecing and whilst fussy cutting so much detail can be a challenge, I really enjoy getting my tiny scissors out to get cutting (I use 5cm long titanium scissors for fussy cutting)   I did 3 layers - the base layer where I shaded the skin, hair, jeans and shoes with pencils, the paper pieced dress and top and then the flowers.   Yes I did cut most of those leaves by hand - I made a couple of errors and had to stick things back on and decided to hand draw one leaf onto the card afterwards, but although tricky, with time and patience it can be done.  You could also use a craft knife if you find that easier, I'm better with scissors personally but you do you.

To create the card I wanted to use another sheet from the same pad (sorry old one from my stash, but you can pick any you have too, I'm sure we all have papers sitting unused somewhere) but when I popped the girls over the top, they were a bit lost in the yellowness of it, so I decided to cut a frame behind them to let the cream card show through so the paper-pieced closes stood out more.  I added a sentiment from Amazing Mom by Colorado Craft Company and then drew a dotted faux stitching line inside the frame to bring it together as the black sentiment needed something to balance it.

Happy International Women's Day!

Tara
