Layered Tulip Bookmark

Layered Tulip Bookmark

I've got a bookmark idea to share today, which may have some book purists running for the hills as I've actually destroyed a book to make it....   However in my defence it was a book that would have been going to make road pulp anyhow so I guess I sort of saved it a little to live on as a bookmark.

I thought it would be fun to make a book mark from another book and have the writing visible but not completely legible so I adding a flower over the top made from the same book means more words to guess the book from but no full sentences!  (and yes the writing on the leaves is upside down - but hey ho!)

I used the ornate bookmark die base from Waffle Flower and cut it both from a page in the book as well as some some cardstock for added thickness, then inkblended a couple of shades of blue over the writing.

Next I made my flower using one of the newest in the Craft-A-Flower series from Altenew - the Tulip Full Bloom.   Now, if you've struggled with layering up the craft-a-flowers before, give this one a try as they've added really helpful arrows and keyholes that line up on the layers and numbered the petals so it's totally fool proof now!  Line up the holes as shown and the flower just appears like magic and the top petals cover the holes!

I cut mine both from the book and some pink card and then inked the book version with two shades of pink.   I did the same for the leaves using greens.   Once layered I just added it to the bookmark - and hey presto - done in a few minutes so perfect for craft stall makes and gifting.
