Easter Animals

Easter Animals

I've had a chance to play with the latest arrivals from The Greetery today.  I really love the cute animals in this release so wanted to give a couple a turn for some Easter cards.

My first features a fun background made with the new ribbon maker easter egg die - whilst these dies were designed so you can make continuous ribbon lengths for gift wrapping with the paper rolls, they are also perfect for card making.   Here I've cut a couple at double length from a sheet of A4 pearlescent white card and then used the lengths diagonally to fill my card base to make a fun background.   I alterenated the direction so the rows tessalated better and then once I'd cut them roughly to length used my shimmery watercolour paints to add some some pastel shimmer perfect for Spring (if it ever arrives!)

I wanted to add the gorgeous bunny on top, so created an oval die cut to mount him on - this is a neat trick to allow your background to still show but softened so the focal element pops.  I added colour with paint and a black fine liner and then finished with a mini pom pom tail.  The pop poms are new in store and fun to use - check out our "other/misc" brand for lots of additional fun products you might not be aware we stock.   Finished the card with a fun sentiment from the new Tear Strip Tags Spring set - works well for sentiments as well as gift tags.

For the second card I wanted more pom pom action!  I thought this would be a really fun project to do with the kids for Easter - I stuck my poms on with a hot glue gun for speed, but they will attach with a strong wet glue like our Lawn Fawn glue with a little more patience and time!   For this one I die cut the base layer and face of the Baby Face Lamb from black card (my favourite sheep are the Swiss Blacknose Valais and I'd love one as a pet!)  I cut the remaining two layers from white card and then just got busy with my pompoms.   I used a pencil to draw the face but you could use the faces from the stamp set that goes with all the baby dies and emboss it in white if you're making a black faced sheep.  To complete the card I used the Square Peek-a-boo Window Frame die in some green striped paper to create a space for the sheep to stand and added another sentiment from Tear Strip Tags Spring set

Are you ready to take the pom-pom challenge?   We'd love to see what creative ways you could find to use them too.

Happy Crafting!
