Leaves on YouTube

Leaves on YouTube

I've been inspired by those specimen collections you see pinned in the Natural History museum today to make a card for a friend who just won a special award so I thought a big leaf paired with this punny sentiment both from The Greetery was spot on!

I started with the Large Leaves Fern die and die cut the two layers from olive green card and glued them together to make one big leaf - the die was designed like this to make a cleaner cut.  For the background, I used an easy multi-media technique to create a thick background to set the leaf into.   I added random areas of colour onto a card panel using green oxides and then applied a layer of Lawn Fawn Pearl Stencil Paste over the top.  As the paste is not opaque the colour shows through and as you swoosh it around it picks up some of the colour too and gives a fun shimmery background.  Whilst still wet, push the leaf into the paste and it glues it in place as it dries.

I finished with a punny sentiment from the Way to Grow set which is really fun.

As this isn't an easy technique to explain, I did a short video showing it in action over on our new YouTube channel - so click the link and to watch (and do click to subscribe to our channel now we finally have one!)

Happy Crafting!
