Glorious Gouache

Glorious Gouache

I've got a simple card to share today using just a couple of new products from Altenew - their fabulous new gouache paint set and the Build-A-Garden Rosa Gallicia stamp.

I used to use gouache a lot but haven't used it in years so was excited to see what I could do with the new paints.  What is different about gouache over watercolour paint is that it dries completely opaque, so I wanted to put this property to the test by painting directly onto patterned paper.   This is great for posting cards as it keeps the layers down but it looks more 3D as it stands out from the background.

I simply stamped the smaller floral group image in a grey ink and then painted on top.  I did wet into wet to blend the petals and leaves and then let it dry before I layered the details on top with a finer brush.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set - its  has lots of really useful phrases!

You could make great gifts by stamping onto canvas frames and painting your images - great for boosting your sales at craft fairs too as painted pictures could gain higher prices than cards.....

Catch you on Sunday
