Christmas Cards in the Sun

Christmas Cards in the Sun

Hello, Tallie here. It's been a while since I've crafted face-to-face with my niece so when we were finally allowed to meet, I gave her the choice of cards she wanted to make. She chose 'a Christmas card for friends Down Under' as she loved the series of gift card holders I did featuring the Lawn Fawn Woodland Critter Huggers dies and wanted to create a koala. So we spent the day in the lovely hot summer sunshine making a Christmas card! Hopefully this can be a reminder to you to keep chipping away for the winter!

I started off by die cutting the different pieces for her using a mix of the Woodland Critter Huggers and Winter Add On dies from a mix of Lawn Fawn cardstocks. I had to show her how the pieces fit together and we used I think is what was supposed to be the nose for an ear, but I think we ended up with a passable koala! Of course we had to add a festive hat, some gloves and a scarf!

For the background, we inked up two panels with some Distress Oxide inks. The sky is Peacock Feathers and Faded Jeans, the sandy foreground is Wild Honey and Scattered Straw. I die cut the sandy panel with a Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders die and adhered them onto a card base.

We chose a temperature-appropriate sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Merry Messages set. white heat embossed and cut with a Everyday Sentiment Banner die.

A few touches with a white gel pen finished off this summery Christmas card!
