Festive Felt Decorations

Festive Felt Decorations

Hello & Happy Thursday.

Today Tara and I have teamed up, as we both had the same idea to using the Concord & 9th Ornament Stamp & Stitch Dies.

Our idea was to use felt to create cute little felt Christmas tree baubles. My inspiration to do this is the crazy idea I had to sign myself up for my boys school Christmas fair! I got to making a list of things I could make to sell other than handmade cards & these made the top.

I used the largest of the bauble dies and matching bauble hanger to cut two pieces of felt. I glued the hangers on each side before embellishing one side with the felt die cut leaves, also from the same die set. And I added in the poinsettia flowers from Festive Corner Cuts Dies, secured with a Swarovski bead from my stash.

I then used blanket stitch to join both sides together. I left the hanger bit open to fill with toy stuffing before closing & adding a hanging string.

Now I hand you over to Tara, to tell you about the bauble she made.

Yes Tara here now - Bev showed me her cute bauble idea yesterday and I'd started one as a gift idea for Christmas at the weekend so decided to finish it last night so we could post both ideas on one blog post.

I took a slightly different approach to Bev and also used the stitching detail die to cut some holes in the front layer of my felt bauble and I used 6 strands of embroidery floss to stitch a pattern into it.  I used 3 strands to do blanket stitch to hold the bauble together and then added a little animal safe toy filler around the edges - my twist is that I filled the middle with catnip making my bauble the perfect festive gift to give to the cat lovers in your life (or to sell if like Bev you're doing a fayre)

Hope we've sparked a couple of ideas to stretch your cardmaking stash and get making some simple gifts with it!
