Tree Town

Tree Town

Anyone else still making their Christmas cards??... or is it just me!?

Well todays card started out as simple embossing for a quick design but evolved to be something quite different from my original idea...

I started by embossing this lovely Christmas Tree Town stamp from Colorado Craft Company with different metallic powders onto cardstock as well as clear powder so I could blend ink over the finished image after heat setting it. Instead of inking the whole panel of card I made a negative mask with scrap paper to follow the tree shape and blended blues, blacks and lilacs to make a night sky.

I used scissors to cut around the image, leaving a white border, and then decided the Swirls background die by Concord & 9th would make a fabulous background. The card base is 5x7inches which gives a balance of white space around the design. The sentiment, from Wplus9's Holiday Trimmings, is embossed in silver and cut using the coordinating die and it sits quite neatly along the base of the tree.

Silver Embossing is also peeking through those holes in the background but rather than embossing the card base I used a punch to make circles of silver from a sheet of paper I heat embossed.... that way you keep the bulk down and the card base doesnt warp with the heat :) I'm quite chuffed how it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
