Cold Christmas In Hot July

Cold Christmas In Hot July

As often happens in my world, I end up spending the hottest days of the year making Chrsitmas cards!   This is what happens when you design for magazines, we're always working 3-4 months ahead of publication date so all my Christmas deadlines are in July and August.   So this weekend I have been busy die cutting lots of Christmas ornaments for a feature in Die Cutting Essentials, and whilt I had the supplies out, I thought I might as well make a start on my own Christmas stash too.   This one is super clean and simple so great if you want to start batch making now (it's never to early!)

I started with a very soft blend of snowflakes at the top of my card using The Greetery's Frosty Flakes stencil (one of the two options in the pack) using Sea Glass ink from Concord and 9th.

I used Cranberry and Evergreen inks also from Concord and 9th to stamp the sentiments using Opposite Attracts Holiday Stamps and matching dies for the noel.   I stamped the noel onto glitter card to make the CAS card a little more special.  The little hole between the n and o in noel is just begging for something to be hung from it, so this is where I hung my ornament.  The ornament comes from Curio Attic Ornaments.   I die cut it from Cranberry card and used some gold metallic rubbing ink on some of the decorative parts to give it a vintage feel and added a tiny gold gem to the centre.  I used some grey sewing thread to hang it - et voila - 1st Christmas card of the summer complete.   I have lots more bits left over from my commission so I have some fun evenings of assembly ahead of me.
