Blossoms and Berries

Blossoms and Berries

I love a versatile stamp set and the Buds & Blossoms set from Concord & 9th has lots of options with both the outline and solid images to play with. The florals are just my style of image so I experimented with colour to make a pretty arrangement on a card, but I also used one of the images to make a Christmas design as well...

First up I used Speckled Egg and Walnut stain Distress Oxides to ink up the solid images for the leaves and flowers but instead of a complete coverage of ink I just brushed the pad around the edges and got a lovely texture as well as colour.

I used the dies to cut them out and stamped the sentiment first on the card base before arranging the images. The frame is a border from the Fine Frames cover die which I've chopped in a couple of places to make an incomplete square frame.

For the Christmas design I took a piece of rectangular card and blended Distress inks onto it from the edges inwards to make the centre a lighter shade. I stamped the berry twig using a blue pigment ink and the berries with a red Distress Oxide ink.

When the whole piece had dried I added a bit of shimmer to the berries and mounted it to a card base which I had embossed a rectangular frame onto, just slightly larger than the panel. The sentiment is embossed in white onto white card and then blended with grey distress ink in an ombre pattern to match the focal piece.

I'm quite liking the red and blue together for a Christmas card.

Thanks for stopping by, catch you next week :)
